QCA PLT Skills Framework with Wingfield School, Rotherham

To be well equipped for their future, young people need to develop essential skills for learning, life and employment. As well as the skills that relate to learning in specific subjects, there are other more generic skills essential to life and work. There is widespread consensus that skills such as self-management, problem solving, teamwork and effective communication are important components in a curriculum that seeks to prepare young people for the future. These skills are captured in a new framework for personal, learning and thinking skills (below), developed in consultation with employers, parents, schools, students and the wider public. The development of these skills is essential if young people are to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
i-education, together with Wingfield School developed a framework using each of the PLT Skill strands to enable students to evidence their abilities to perform in each strand and engage in peer mentor dialogue.
The framework sits within the I am learning system (available at www.iamlearning.co.uk)
