Britannica Smart Study launches
i-education have signed an agreement with Encyclopaedia Britannica to launch "Britannica Smart Study" as a school subscription service bringing together the Britannica brand and values with I am learning's unique games-based delivery mechanism.
SmartStudy launched online at the Scottish Learning Festival (Glasgow SECC, 21-22 September 2011) and will follow on iPhone/iPad in October with plans for other mobile platforms to follow throughout 2011.
"We have a good relationship with Encyclopaedia Britannica and felt there was a natural fit between their brand and educational expertise and our exciting delivery technology designed to engage 21st-century learners" says Michael Wilkinson. "We feel there is great potential in working together to explore the market both in the UK and internationally with the desktop solution and with mobile applications."
Ian Grant, Managing Director of Encyclopaedia Britannica (UK) Ltd, commented: ‘The delivery of study material at all levels of education always follows changes in consumer media consumption. Together, Britannica and i-education are able to operate at the leading edge of publishing technology both to fulfil curriculum requirements and to motivate young learners to work hard to exceed their expectations’.
Michael will be joining Britannica at the Frankfurt Book Fair (14-15 October 2011) to participate in an international forum on games-based Learning and its place in the education arena.
